We aim to empower people and communities to develop the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the future. This includes building financial capabilities, enhancing employability and entrepreneurship, and supporting vulnerable communities.
Through the global reach of our charitable partnerships we bring together diverse people, ideas and perspectives that help us open up opportunities and build a more inclusive and resilient world.

HSBC Australia has a long-standing relationship with Barnardos, which for more than 130 years, has been at the forefront of protecting and caring for vulnerable children. In Australia, HSBC has supported a range of education programs for children and young people who are experiencing disadvantage, such as poverty, domestic violence or homelessness. HSBC supports the Barnardos Yurungai Learning Centre in Waterloo, which offers an after-school program focussed on numeracy and literacy for primary-school children. HSBC staff regularly volunteer to support children with their school projects and homework, at the after-school Homework Club in HSBC’s Barangaroo office.

HSBC Australia and The Prince’s Trust of Australia work in partnership to help provide young people with opportunities to succeed in employment and education. We share a focus on supporting First Nations youth to achieve their potential. HSBC provides philanthropic support to the Trust’s ‘Get into Maritime’ employment program in Sydney, which leads to fulfilling jobs on Sea Country for First Nations people under 30.
Reconciliation Action Plans (RAPs) provide a framework for organisations to realise their vision for reconciliation. They are reviewed and endorsed by Reconciliation Australia, an independent not-for-profit which promotes and facilitates reconciliation by building relationships, respect and trust between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
RAPs are practical plans of action built on relationships, respect and opportunities. They create social change and economic opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
HSBC Australia issued our latest Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan in March 2024 as part of our ongoing commitment to a fairer Australia.
