HSBC ranked number one international bank in Australia for 10th year in a row

HSBC has cemented its position as Australia’s leading international bank, for ten years and counting. The bank ranks number one for overall domestic market penetration amongst all international banks, according to the 2021 Peter Lee Associates Large Corporate and Institutional Relationship Banking Survey.

The survey interviewed 590 Australian based large corporate institutions, making it the largest corporate and institutional relationship banking survey run in Australia and New Zealand.

Clients ranked banks across a variety of indicators in corporate and institutional banking in Australia, covering relationship banking, transactional banking and debt securities origination.

Findings from the survey also revealed HSBC as number one for lead banking relationships amongst all international banks for the fourth year in a row.

Highlights from the 2021 Peter Lee Associates Survey include:

  • HSBC ranked #1 for overall domestic market penetration amongst all international banks for the 10th year in a row (2011-2021).
  • HSBC ranked #1 for lead banking relationships amongst all international banks for the 4th year in a row (2018-2021).
  • HSBC ranked #1 amongst all international banks for providing support through the COVID-19 pandemic, with 71% of HSBC relationships citing HSBC’s support as “excellent” or “above average”.
  • HSBC recognised as the leading international bank for ESG / Sustainable Finance.
